About Shane Kitzman
IN MY WORDS:
I simply love telling stories.
My array of titles have included writer, editor,
photographer, videographer, and social media manager. I'm also just as comfortable with the technical side of today's storytelling -- maximizing an online presence through all things SEO and Google Analytics.
I gravitate toward sports features because athletics provide a great vehicle for creative storytelling. However, I'm just as comfortable covering breaking news and implementing in-depth enterprising projects.
My news judgment has earned my feature writing national acclaim and I was named
the Associated Press' New Journalist of the Year fresh out of college. And, before I left the Northfield News as Sports Editor, I had increased its
number of Twitter followers tenfold (the jump was from 30 to more than 300, but tenfold
is tenfold, am I right?).
IN THEIR WORDS:
"Shane is definitely the kind of colleague you want on your team. He's hard working, highly motivated and will go above and beyond the day-to-day job description ... He's able to find, and tell, stories that can be hidden gems and give them a level of interest that will certainly attract any reader. He's a great asset to any newsroom."
-Sara (Boyd) Pelissero | WCCO Web Producer
“Shane charmed us with his drive and enthusiasm … He is
everything a reporter should be; curious, passionate, dedicated to his craft,
creative and determined. During his tenure at the News, he left an indelible
impression on all his co-workers with his buoyant personality and
tongue-in-cheek humor.”
-David Henke | Northfield News reporter
"I read (Shane's articles) because it’s always sure to be entertaining, humorous,
informative and well written with a current flair. Oftentimes, even
enlightening. More importantly, when I read an article, it makes me feel
as though Shane and I are chatting on the sidelines."
-Jessica Jasper | Letter to the editor after I departed the Northfield News
“Shane Kitzman knows where a good story exists and how to
tell it. He shares with readers a range of emotions in a style that any reader
can enjoy … He rises to the top with consistently fine writing, engaging leads
and a sophisticated approach to stories.”

does, and he utilizes creative outside-the-box thinking, relationship based management,
and an extremely advanced style of business communication to achieve results
that regularly exceed expectations.”
